Reviews for Kampung Dining Signature (Formerly Lax Lax)
Review highlights
Based on 1,968 reviewsKampung Dining Signature at 1 Utama Shopping Centre is widely recognized for its inviting ambiance that caters well to families, including amenities like a playpen for children and attentive, patient service staff. Reviewers frequently praise the restaurant’s Asian cuisine, particularly the nasi lemak varieties and pork dishes, which are noted for their fragrant rice, crispy textures, and well-balanced flavors. The cendol dessert also receives consistent commendation for its authentic and satisfying taste. While most dishes maintain a favorable quality, some feedback suggests occasional inconsistencies such as temperature issues and slight variations in flavor intensity, particularly with noodle and vegetable dishes. Overall, the restaurant offers a pleasant dining experience with a focus on hearty traditional dishes, supported by friendly service and a comfortable setting suitable for parents and families.
This restaurant consists of an indoor and outdoor dining experience, their food is reasonably good & is a heaven sent for parents with lil children as it even has a play pen with very patient waiters. The nasi lemak with crispy chicken with herbs (ayam berempah) was delicious & the green tea was free flow. Just one gripe I have is that the meet hoon siam was a tad bit cold, would have been better if it was pre heated, otherwise my family & I had a great dining experience here, well done to the crew who worked tirelessly to keep us & the kids comfortable throughout our lunch,a job well done, recommended.
The Nasi Lemak daging berempah is superb! We like the Mee Siam too. Just think that the taste of nyonya laksa and vegetables can be slightly favourable had a great meal here!
Dropped by and ordered the roast pork, pork satay, and a cendol. The roast pork was excellent—tender meat, well-rendered fat, and a beautifully crispy skin. The pork satay was flavourful and moist, though I personally would have liked a bit more of that charred edge for an extra kick. The highlight for me was the cendol—one of the best I’ve had. The slightly thicker texture of the green strips gave it more bite, and the gula melaka was rich, darker in tone, and not overly sweet, which balanced the dessert perfectly. The bill came up to RM68 for one person, which is on the higher side, but considering the location and environment, it’s not unexpected. The rest of the menu looked really tempting, so I’ll definitely be returning to try more dishes. Valet parking is available for convenience, or you can easily walk over from 1 Utama mall (old wing, LG floor near SenQ).
Came here to try the Pork Nasi Lemak, without much expectation in mind, it blew my mind The rice was super fragrance topped with the sambal, it was superb! Peanuts and anchovies were all crispy The pork was juicy and crispy. Cendol was another mind blowing taste! The other dish ordered was the mince pork Mee Siam, OMG the mince pork was really good !! Overall contrantrated taste and great services. Happy to walk in for the try
Dishes Ordered: Petai Minced Pork Nasi Lemak (limited edition menu, I think) + Pork Nasi Lemak + Cendol Price: RM 121 (for 2 pax) Disclaimer: Visited this place back in June while it was still called Lax Lax - not sure if the management or the food quality remains the same. Comments: We tried the Petai Minced Pork Nasi Lemak, which wasn't very spicy but was still really nice to eat (the rice was flavourful). It actually felt pretty homey - Petai AND Minced Pork? Only the best combo ever, I still crave it from time to time. For the classic OG Pork Ribs Nasi Lemak, the pork was amazingly crispy and well-seasoned - lots of kerisik and curry leaves, and the flavours just hit. And they had sambal on the side FOR FREE?? (Not sure if that's still the case though). The Sambal was spicier than usual (so bonus points). Portions are BIG. The Siu Yuk was juicy, yummy and fresh. Service was overall good. We also had the Cendol, which was good - the coconut milk was fresh and creamy and the gula melaka was just right. No food here disappoints. The ambience is pretty great too, with a play area AND a bar (wow). The only downside was that the location was a bit hard to find — it’s in the outdoor area with all the Japanese restaurants and bars (the SEALANTIS area), but maybe I’m just not familiar with 1Utama. If you know your way around 1U, then ignore this lol.
It has been awhile since I last visit. Food is still good, however the gula melaka in my cendol lacks aroma - different from the last time I had. Service by Yasin is superb, very attentive and friendly.
